RAF flyer

RAF1RAF2

This flyer was dropped on Cologne, Germany prior to the bombing that took place on May 30, 1942. Someone has discreetly pencilled in 1944 on it, but the only date that makes sense is 1942.

It is all in German but in a rough translation, it warns the Germans that more than 1000 bombers are coming, that they should not resist, that their defeat was inevitable, etc.

The back has quotes from numerous allied leaders.

This flyer was found folded up inside a German book in the estate of a German couple. Presumably it had been hidden there during the war and forgotten. Somehow it made it to Canada when they emigrated.

It has been folded as you can see from the pictures, and the folds are stained suggesting it was handled a lot. The dimensions ar 8 1/2" tall and 5 1/4" wide.
