Armchair Generals and War Games
… where Netanyahu is the puppet master
Mar 03, 2026
Benjamin Netanyahu has once again called on big brother Trump to go beat up the bully that Bibi doesn’t like.
Just last year he called on Trump to fly a bomber all the way from North America to Iran to drop a bunch of bombs on what he said was their uranium enrichment facility. They said it was a phenomenal success – that the facility was ‘obliterated’. Well, was it?
We really don’t know because we are relying on (probably) Israeli intelligence – which can be incredibly accurate at times but is also capable of spinning any scenario they like if it suits their purpose – as we have seen many times in the last few years in Gaza. And right now Israel wants to grind Iran into the ground.
But regardless of the reality, Netanyahu was telling Trump that Iran was still working on a bomb – that it was weeks away from from completion … or maybe they were more interested in the ballistic missiles. Regardless, Trump bought the story (whichever) and added regime change to the mix.
Now, I’m not going to defend Iran – they’re bad actors – towards their neighbours in the middle east and to the world in general. (But it also needs to be said that both Israel and the US are likewise bad actors).

Bad Actors
But for Trump (who dodged the draft during the Viet Nam war) and Pete Heckseth who served in Iraq from 2004 as a 2nd Lieutenant long after the “shock and awe” was over, this was exciting – directing “the most powerful fighting force the world has ever seen.” (See my post from a few weeks ago about Venezuela)
Strategy? well nobody seems to really know – least of all, Trump.
Goals? depends who you talk to. The argument that Iran was close to having a bomb seems likely to be piece of Israeli musing. Numerous experts dispute the claim.
Trump’s idea that the people could rise up and take over the government is laughable. Insurrections require planning and organization and the Iranian opposition has been kept toothless through decades of autocratic rule. Yes, the Supreme Leader is dead but the only thing that will replace him in the short term is a new Supreme Leader. That or the mob … and mobs don’t rule. Look at Haiti … the government collapsed and criminal gangs filled the vacuum fighting each other for territory. Another example is Somalia which has been in a state of anarchy and civil war for much of the last 30 years. Be careful what you wish for – regime change is usually messy.
That state of of insecurity may serve Israel’s purposes. Look at what’s been going on in Syria since rebel forces swept out the Assad regime. Israel has made numerous incursion and occupied parts of Syria to take advantage of the instability and leadership vacuum that inevitably follows a regime change.
We know that Israel has an extensive network of spies throughout the middle east and that’s why their intelligence is so good. They may be hoping to use that network to surreptitiously create conditions that might lead to a compliant puppet regime in Tehran. Iranians wouldn’t like it but if it brought stability, neighbouring Arab countries would probably be OK with it.
Meanwhile innocent people are being killed with no end in site.
