Carlson Dolls was started in 1946 in Minnesota and at its peak in the 60s they were producing 500 different dolls, many of which were clothed to represent the dozens of different Indian tribes of N. America. This pair of dolls appear to represent one of the woodland tribes and likely date from the late 60s. The clothing is made of real leather right down to the leggings and the moccasins. They have a strip of white fur (probably rabbit) across the shoulder. The plastic heads rotate, the eyes close when lying down and the arms move up and down.
They are 8″ high and mounted on a round of birch wood. They are essentially identical except that one is carrying an axe and the other has a musket (both plastic). Excellent clean condition. These were clearly never played with. Note that there is some dust around the mouth of the one on the right that I didn’t notice when I was taking the pictures.

Re: shipping. I am now using an alternative carrier for most of my shipments and most are now tracked, insured and faster. However, this carrier does not have a shipping calculator that integrates with Etsy so shipping calculations are still from Canada Post. Timeframes will generally be faster and the rates will usually be less than quoted. As a result I am making partial refunds on about half of my shipments – on bulky items to the USA, refunds can be in the double digits. If you want an accurate quote in advance please email me with your full address, postal code & country.
All items are packed carefully and securely. I use recycled materials wherever possible.
I will combine shipping on multiple purchases whenever appropriate in order to save you money.
If you live or work in the vicinity of Whitby, Ontario, you can pick up your purchase and save the shipping charges. You could also drop by and view the items we’ve listed in person. Go to http://OldWhitby.ca for more info.
