Antique 24″ Lucerne Whale Oil Lamp – 3 Spout – Intricate Engraving

This would have likely come from Southern Europe in the latter half of the 1800s. The font and the base are extensively chased and engraved. (The chasing is different on the 3 sides of the font.) It has the chains for 3 tools but the scissor shaped snuffing tool has a broken handle. Fortunately, someone at the time had the prescience to attach the handle piece to another chain and any reasonably skilled metal worker could put them back together (4th picture). That leaves one tool missing – probable a simple pick of some sort. The only other flaw is a hole on one side of the font (3rd last picture). It looks like the metalworker doing the chasing was a little too rough and pressed too hard. It wouldn’t have broken at the time but he weakened the metal. This would be a little more challenging to repair but readily doable. However if you purchase it for its decorative value, the hole is barely noticeable. The font moves up and down the post and is held at the desired height by “friction stop” below it (1st & last pictures).

The overall height is 24″ and the diameter of the base is 5.75″. The diameter of the font and burners is also about 5.75″.

Re: shipping. I am now using an alternative carrier for most of my shipments and most are now tracked, insured and faster. However, this carrier does not have a shipping calculator that integrates with Etsy so shipping calculations are still from Canada Post.
