This picture of 2 children playing near a cliff edge with a guardian angel watching over them is the kind of picture many a Victorian parent would have hung in their children’s bedroom. However, the principal value in this offering is the frame which probably dates to the 3rd quarter of the 19th century – or possibly earlier.
It is 13″ wide x 17″ high x 1″ deep. It has a 1.75″ profile. It still has its original rough-sawn wooden back which is held in place with square nails. The frame has rabbeted cross braces on corners at the back which is unusual and indicates a sturdy well-built frame. The frame has its original alligatored dark varnish finish which has a few marks but, considering its age is in excellent condition. From the back, the wood appears to be pine or some other softwood and has a natural dark oxidized colour. The glass has the imperfections that you expect to see in old glass.

Re shipping. When you check out you will be quoted a price for the shipping based on your address and the estimated physical size and weight of the package.
All items destined to any country outside of Canada (including USA) will have tariffs applied (percentage of the item’s value depending on the country of origin) and brokerage fees (approx $2).
Items destined to the USA require a label or mark stating the country of origin – in many cases vintage items aren’t marked and I may have to physically attach such a label myself.
