Sales Tax & Tariffs
OldWhitby is a micro business and our annual revenues are way below the threshold at which we are required to collect and remit sales tax to the Canadian government. As a result sales within Canada have no sales tax.
Sales to the US and other parts of the world may get taxed on entry to the receiving country (or state) depending on local laws, regulations or practices but in most cases no tax will need to be paid.
Shipments to the US will incur tariffs and brokerage fees which will be collected at purchase. Brokerage fees will be about Can$2.50 per shipment and the tariff will be a percentage of the sale price depending on the country of origin.
International shipments may also incur tariffs from the receiving country at the time of entry. I have no idea what these are and i would appreciate your input if you are receiving an item which is tariffed (or not). In the meantime you will have to consult your local authorities.
