I fell in love with this vase about 45 years ago and bought it. It is cased glass – possibly Murano, possibly Czech. It is amethyst glass which is a deep dark purple which appears black. If you hold it up to a very bright light you can see the purple colour. Over the amethyst, the glass blower has layered clear glass including pieces of chartreuse glass which as they’ve been drawn up the sides have feathered out into the pattern you see in this vase. There are some quite large bubbles in the glass which usually suggests an older piece. I would guess that this is from the 1920s or earlier. It is 6″ high and about 3 3/4″ at the widest point. Excellent condition ‘as found’- no chips.
