This wooden model of a traditional “Hocul Cottge” was made in Berezany in the Ternopilska oblast of western Ukraine in 1976 during the Soviet Era. I found a similar piece on the Collector’s Weekly site which provided translations for label on the bottom. It is beautifully made with dovetail joints and woodburnt details around the door, windows and well (?). The roof is beautifully carved to emulate thatch. It has a silver coloured metal plate at the front which may give the maker’s name but it is hand engraved in cyriillic and I can’t read it except for the date – 1976.
The base is approx 10″ x 7″ and the height is about 7″. It is missing something on the right side (The one on Collector’s Weekly has a large paddle shaped item over the well head) Otherwise it is in excellent condition.

Re: shipping. I am now using an alternative carrier for most of my shipments and most are now tracked, insured and faster. However, this carrier does not have a shipping calculator that integrates with Etsy so shipping calculations are still from Canada Post. Timeframes will generally be faster and the rates will usually be less than quoted. As a result I am making partial refunds on about half of my shipments – on bulky items to the USA, refunds can be in the double digits.
